Forced By Promise: Chapter Five

Sesshoumaru was trying his hardest to keep his beast contained, but when she blushed there was no stopping him from tasting Kagome's sweet lips. The flavor of her lips matched her sweet smell of cherry blossoms and sunshine, but he then got control of his self. Sesshoumaru pushed back from Kagome and looked her straight in the eyes. His mask was firmly set in place. He could see lust in those blue pools, but he wanted her to be a demon and agree to their engagement.

Kagome looked back into his hypnotizing golden pools. She knew that the only reason she kissed him back was for lust not love. She knew that she shouldn't have kissed him back. It was wrong. Kagome didn't even think before she slapped Sesshoumaru across the face.

"You insolent girl! If you weren't the heir to the East you would be dead for even thinking of doing such a thing!" Kagome just looked at him with pure hate in her eyes.

"You bastard! You should never have kissed me! I do not care if I am supposed to be your mate! You have no right to kiss me." With that she stormed out the door. Kagome didn't even care where she was going. All she knew was that she had to get away from Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru couldn't believe that she had slapped him, but for once he agreed with someone. He shouldn't have kissed her. Betrothed or not she was still just a filthy human.

He secretly admired how she stood up to him like that. No one had ever denied him anything and especially hadn't slapped him or yelled at him. Kagome was beginning to surprise him more and more and he found that he liked that.

Kagome was walking through the palace when she came across a room that was obviously her father's study. She slowly walked in and saw her father sitting behind a large desk. Kagome could see that he was busy doing paper work so she just admired the portrait that was on the wall.

The woman in the portrait was lovely. The woman's midnight black hair was long. She had beautiful green eyes and she had a sun symbol on her forehead. On her cheeks were stripes that were similar to her father's. Instead of being blue they were green. The dress she wore was beautiful. She looked like a goddess. Kagome didn't notice at first, but in the woman's arms was a bundle that was apparently a baby.

Kagome was so transfixed with the portrait that she didn't notice Lord Haru had come behind her until he spoke.

"That is your mother Kiyomi and the infant she is holding is you. When you were young she miraculously disappeared. No one has seen her since." Kagome continued to stare at the portrait while he spoke. She was not expecting the silent tear that appeared on her face.

Kagome had to regain her memories so that she could remember this beautiful and kind-looking woman.

Kikyou was grateful to Kagome for bringing her back to life, but it seemed that Inuyasha still might have feelings for Kagome. She didn't hate Kagome for this, but she did want to marry Inuyasha now that she had another chance at life.

Inuyasha started to smell the sweet scent of cherry blossoms and sunshine. Kagome was close and he was determined to save her from Sesshoumaru. Inuyasha didn't like it, but they seemed to be getting closer and closer to the Palace of the Sun. If Kagome was there he had to figure out a way to get the guards to let them in.

'I will save you no matter what it takes Kagome.' With that final thought the group continued to rush on.

Sesshoumaru had a lot to think about. He had to consider his feelings for Kagome. He couldn't deny the fact that he was slightly attracted to her. Once she was a demon again she would be his. He needed an heir. He refused to let Inuyasha be the one to take control of the West. Sesshoumaru was angry with the decision he was making, but he couldn't have his mate to be angry with him. He headed off to find Kagome and apologize. Sesshoumaru cringed at the thought of it.

Kagome was silently reading a book while her father continued to do his paperwork. She wasn't really paying attention to what she was reading. Her mind stayed on Sesshoumaru the whole time.

'Why did he kiss me? There was more to it than the whole mating thing. I should go apologize.' Kagome began to stand. As soon as she was about to go and find Sesshoumaru he appeared at the door.

"Kagome may I speak with you alone?" Lord Haru looked at his daughter and Sesshoumaru with a keen look in his eye. They seemed to be becoming friends. All he could hope was that his daughter fell for Sesshoumaru so that she would eagerly be his mate when the time came.

The two quietly stepped outside of the study.

"What do you want Sesshoumaru?" Kagome was confused about her feelings for him so seeing him annoyed her at the moment.

"This Sesshoumaru apologizes for kissing you without your permission. Will you forgive me?" That even sounded nice in his monotone voice. Sesshoumaru didn't like that at all.

"I forgive you Sesshoumaru, but all I want is to be your friend. I can never be your mate." An evil smirk appeared on Sesshoumaru's face. Kagome didn't like that look at all.

"Whether you like it or not when you revert back to your demon self you shall become my mate. It does not matter how you feel about me." Kagome just looked at him with pure disgust. She did not love him so how exactly was he going to convince her to be his mate?

"It won't happen. I will just run away"

"Then I will just have to capture you." With that final sentence he walked away.
